Agawan Festival 2009

Every 15th day of May, Agawan Festival is an annual agricultural festival held in Sariaya, Quezon to celebrate the feast of San Isidro Labrador patron saint of farmers. All residents who participated on the festival decorate the outside of their homes. Different kinds of goodies hangs on the bamboo tree which called as “bagakay” for people to snatch as they pass by after the image of San Isidro Labrador passes by. Colorful hats, fans made of “buntal” are festooned all over the wall of the houses which gives beautiful scenery of the whole part of the houses. Others create an artificial farm that symbolizes the works of the farmers. String beans are draped on windows to make curtains and banana trees, “walis tingting” (broom made from coconut leaves) are used to adorn fences.

Birds Photography

It was taken last February 8, 2009 in UP Diliman. My friend Edu ask me to join his group for this apportunity to take a photo of this kind of bird. This bird is named as Spotted Wood Kingfisher.
